About Raenell Doyle
I grew up in Mesa AZ. I loved being outdoors, still do. My artistic ability was apparent at an early age. It wasn't until high school art classes that I began to realize not everyone could just sit down and draw what they saw as easily as I could. I tried many different crafts and mediums over the years, I was interested in them all. When my children were small some were easier to pick up and put down when I only had a short time to spare each day.
In the early 80's I choose watercolor to express myself and loved the look, feel and portability with easy clean up. Working exclusively in watercolor for 11 years I started to yearn for something different. I made etchings for a while then moved through acrylics quickly and into oils. I love what I can do with oil paint.
I attended intensive workshops with modern masters David Leffel and Sherrie McGraw for many years. Building on my natural ability and eye for seeing and understanding the concepts they taught I improved quickly. My work has been included in many prestigious juried national shows. Such as the Salon International, and International Museum of Contemporary Masters, for many years running. The Oil Painters of America National and Regional shows also for many years. My work has been featured in articles by American Artist Magazine, Southwest Art Magazine, American Art Collector and many others.
I have a studio located on 5 acres in Yelm, WA. Where I live with my husband, 5 australian shepherds, 6 sheep, 3 hens and 4 ducks. A few years ago I started a new hobby, training australian shepherds to work with me moving stock as a team. I have started a series of paintings of sheep, lambs and dogs. Combining these two loves. Enjoy!
